Metadata Templates are a way of applying bulk metadata to a set of imported images.

These templates set the default values of metadata properties to a set of images. For example: if you shot a set of images on holiday to Devils Dyke in West Sussex. All those images will be at the same location. To save time before importing the images set the location in the metadata Template to Devils Dyke in West Sussex.

Imported images will be new images added into the archive. These images will be originals and will go into the master repository and it will be the Master Template that will be applied to the image.

Images that have been checked out, edited and checked back into the archive will be versions of the original, these will go into the derivative repository and the Derivative Template will be applied to the images.

The Master Template

The Master Template is the template that is used to apply changes to the Master metadata

Derivative Template

Derivative Metadata templates are used to apply metadata to modified images.
When an image is first imported into the database at this point we can also apply meta data to imported images. Normally when we do import images it will be a set of images that have common attributes is common attributes can be captured in a template and applied the imported set of images.

Master meta data template
the master template relates to the master or original image most of these meta data attributes relate to the image itself such as where it was shocked how it was shot the camera set up all the general attributes you normally apply to an image. These were all also hold true to any version of the image this is made from this original.
The derivative meta data template
the derivative metadata template are relates to meta data generated when a new version of the original image Is Made. This would contain better data such as the reason for the new version details of the changes in the new version et cetera for example if an image is edited by another person other than the original photographer and this needs to be noted in the derivative meta data

the Master data can be applied first when the images originally imported into the database then at any time using meta data command.
Viewing and updating the meta data template
metadata 10 plates are simply text files that are applied. You are able to manually edit these 10 plates using a text editor. However the meta data command allows you to make changes in view of the meditator 10 plates without the use of an editor.
Note one useful thing unable you is to be able to produce a blank letter later 10 plate file for you to manually edit.
