Whenever ImgArchive carries out a set of activates on a number of images it generates a Journal file. This file documents the experience of each image though the process being carried out.

This journal file will contain a record of each image, and as the process progresses this journals documents the documents the progress each image in this set of images. At the end of the process the Journal will contain a summary of each of the processed images as the how each image processed. This enables you to check that all the images were processed correctly and if not why not.

 

Types of Journal

ImgArchive generates the following journals types:

The Import journal - This journal documents the process of images being added to the archive.

The export journal - This journal documents the export of images being copied out of the archive to a folder.

The backup journal - used to journal the progress of images being backed up along with showing a summary on the final status of the backup.

The Import journal

This journal contains all the images to be imported. The Import process can be split into two main parts or the two parts can be combined. These parts are as follows:

  • Generating the import job the Journal is to track

  • Processing the import job using the journal to track process

The file contains all the images that you wish to import. Generating this file is done by identifying the images to be imported. This file can be edited giving the option to delete or add images before importing.

  • The final location

  • If passed validation

The Journal file can be used by the import command by passing it's path on the command line.
